The Collective Eye No. 4
In this weeks image, the photographer wanted to capture what it actually feels like to visit Paris, not a postcard version, but a genuine moment of scale and geometry along the Seine River.
The following comments are direct quotes from our community, shared exactly as they were written. We're publishing them as a way of showing the range of honest, thoughtful feedback this image received, not as a final verdict, but as a real conversation between photographers looking closely at the same frame.
“I can actually feel the sense of larger than life scale. And I totally agree with all the choices done here even the small occupation of the frame with living subjects and the overwhelming emptiness. It draws nicely the contrast about Paris I experienced when first visiting contrary to mainstream myth as the most romantic city what I actually saw were massive boulevards that somehow always looked empty in a city that has more people than my country, multi lane roads cutting the city apart it all looked kind of grim to me. Just brutal urban engineering without any sense of social ergonomy or anything organic. Seine in the evening was the polar opposite very vibrant community engagement around it.”
“I like this image. If I had to give feedback I’d like to see more of the bridge up top. More people, cars, etc.”
“I like the image too. I wonder at what time of the day the photographer took it because usually there are more people around along the Seine river .”
“I like the image, especially the diagonal lines and the bridge arch which frames the subject nicely. It leads your eye as well. I think the photographer accomplished the goal. One observation I have is that it seems like the shadows were lifted too much in post processing which flattens the exposure when It could have a bit more tonal depth.”
